I'm now serving in my 12th. term in the North Carolina House of Representatives, more terms than any other currently serving Democrat. As such, I am honored to be named the Chair of the NC House Democratic caucus. The main duty for this position is to call and manage the organizational meeting for House Democrats before the new session begins, to elect the new House Democratic Leader and Deputy Leader. When in the majority, that would be the Speaker of the NC House and House Majority Leader. If, for any reason, our current Democratic Leader were to vacate that position, I would be responsible for calling another organizational meeting.
I am very proud to live in a state with a long history of public policy that benefits all. I can't and won't let the erosion we have experienced in this last decade destroy the progress of the previous 60 years. I'm confident that North Carolina voters will elect new leaders to restore our state to its noble goal, "…where the weak grow strong and the strong grow great…"
